Diamond Crown By Jc Newman
The Diamond Crown cigar was created as a celebration cigar on the occasion of J.C. Newman’s Cigar Company’s 100th anniversary in 1995. Stanford J. Newman and Carlos Fuente Sr. decided to mark the event; they would create a super premium cigar that had no equal on the market.
At that time, the largest ring gauge on the market was 52 so Newman and Fuente agreed that all of the Diamond Crown cigars would have ring gauges of 54 and above. The larger ring meant that they were able to blend the six to seven individual tobacco leaves into one, singular experience, with a cigar of maximum flavor, every single time. The Diamond Crown cigars start with only premium tobacco from the Dominican Republic.
To make the Diamond Crown cigars as special as possible, it starts with a specialized, time-consuming and very painstaking two-step fermentation process. Connecticut fermented wrappers are hung in bales, dried, bulked and then packed. For many cigars, this is where the process ends and the leaves are wrapped into cigars at this point. The Diamond Crown cigars go another step further by fermenting for five years, unpacked from the bales and inspected. Only the best leaves, meaning only the most perfect, silkiest and smoothest leaves are put back in bulks and then fermented a second time to really allow the lovely, Rosado color to fully develop.
