Premium cigars don’t just happen. They are handmade by skilled artisans who don’t just roll some tobacco in a leaf. They work slowly and carefully to capture the essence of the tobacco and the leaf in such a way as to produce a truly magnificent smoke. Premium cigar-makers usually produce between 100 and 300 cigars in a day, depending on the size of the cigars and the manufacturing process. That process begins after tobacco has been aged to “perfection.” Usually this takes between 2 and 5 years. That tobacco is then rolled into a wrapper leaf, which has also been aged several years. Once the tobacco has been rolled into the wrapper, it is set and left to age for an addition 3 to 4 months. Since most premium cigar utilize more than one tobacco, this final aging process allows the different tobaccos to become infused, offering one rich, smooth taste.
